ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) is the international benchmark for businesses seeking to certify their Environmental Management System. Certification demonstrates the company’s dedication to analysing and managing both their direct and indirect environmental aspects, as well as their process-related impacts. ISO 14001 is applicable to all types of companies, both in the service and manufacturing sectors. ISO 14001 provides guidance on identifying potential environmental risks associated with operations and on managing an emergency response. ISO 14001 requires the company to define its environmental objectives and implement a management system to achieve them.

In 2009, Mugello Circuit became the second racetrack in the world to attain ISO 14001 Certification.

The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a voluntary initiative established by the European Union. Organisations – including companies and public bodies – can choose to participate in order to evaluate and enhance their environmental performance. It also serves to provide the public and other stakeholders with information regarding their environmental management. EMAS is one of the voluntary tools implemented under the 5th EU Environment Action Programme. The primary objective of EMAS is to support economic sustainable development by highlighting the role and responsibilities of businesses.

In 2019, Mugello Circuit became the first racetrack in Europe to attain EMAS Certification.
