EUROPEAN LE MANS SERIES - ELMS

This particular acronym stands for one of the most iconic four-wheel championships in the world. It is the European Le Mans Series, the Endurance competition reserved for LMP2, LMP2 Pro/Am, LMP3 and LMGT3 cars.

And precisely the Mugello circuit, from 26 to 29 September 2024, is delighted to host, for the first time ever, this beautiful event that combines speed and adrenaline. Ferrari 296, Porsche 911, Aston Martin Vantage, Lamborghini Huracan, Ligier JS, Duqueine M30, Oreca 07 these are the cars that will whizz down the long straight of Mugello.

A format that envisages four hours of racing with 43 cars at the start, where the various drivers will battle it out for two hundred and forty minutes, exalting all motorsport enthusiasts. The rules are clear: each driver must drive at least 40 minutes during the race and the winner will be the one whose car will have covered the greatest distance in the relevant category. Only the top 10 will be awarded points. Extra points will be awarded for pole position in each category.

The race will be preceded by two free practice sessions of 90 minutes each and the Bronze Test, a 30-minute session reserved exclusively for Bronze drivers classified by the FIA. Then the usual qualifying: one 15-minute session per category, which will define the grid order.

ELMS, however, can also be a good launching pad as champions of the calibre of Lamy, Herbert, Pescatori, Sarrazin, Collard, Bertolini, Pier Guidi, Albuquerque and many others have passed through this championship.  And among the great protagonists of the GT3 competition, we cannot fail to mention the presence of the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the Hypercar class, Nicklas Nielsen who, with his Ferrari 499P, will try to put on a show as he has already done in the oldest race of the World Endurance Championship. Not to mention the fact that former Formula 1 drivers Robert Kubica and Paul Di Resta, as well as Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich, will also be involved in this spectacular competition. Special mention also for the two sons-in-law Arthur Leclerc and Nelson Piquet Jr, who will try to emulate the great feats on the track of their brother and father respectively.

It is no coincidence, in fact, that the European Le Mans Series attracts drivers from all walks of life, from those who have competed and won at the pinnacle of motorsport, including Formula One and the WEC, to the new generation of stars and gentlemen (Bronze drivers) willing to take on the challenge of competing with the best.

Affiliated to the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), drivers participating in the ELMS are guaranteed a set of strict rules that ensure a level playing field for all. The welcoming and friendly paddock embodies the professionalism that surrounds top-level endurance racing, with free access for the thousands of fans who can approach and enjoy this magnificent sport.

In short, an unmissable event on a unique circuit.
